The Williamston community in South Australia launched their community website on Wednesday night at the .au Community Domains information seminar in the Barossa Region.

Williamstown is a small town on the fringe of the Barossa Valley Wine region, rich in heritage with many original stone buildings in the town centre that date back to the mid 1800’s.

At the launch, website administrator Rebecca Tappert spoke to interested community members in the region about Williamstown’s experience with developing their own community website. “We hope the site will help boost tourism as well as being a point of reference for the businesses in Williamstown as a lot of people go to Gawler to shop and we want to promote local businesses. We also want to encourage local businesses to give back to the community and bring different generations, businesses and locals together.” Rebecca said.

The Williamstown website includes much information for the local resident or visitor to the region with an events calendar, accommodation page, business directory, information on wine producers, a town map and anything anyone could need to know about the local community. There is also a lovely image gallery with photographs of community events.
