Putty CGDN site well received by visitors and residents

The Putty community website has become a great addition to the NSW community.

According to website manager Judith Hobson, “The Putty website has been very well received by its residents and visitors, who, although few, (a couple of hundred residents, but many more visitors to our spring Bush Fairs, Balalaika Concerts, Endurance Rides in July), are enthusiastic about events, news, directory information, weather, photos and generally all snippets of info about the valley.”

Emergency information is a regular addition to the website due to the isolated National-Park-surrounded environment the community resides within. The website group regularly publish bushfire information and occasionally flood information. Landcare information is another feature of the website and is common practice in the community with the effort to restore the land from weeds and farming overuse, back to native pastures.

Judith explains what is special about the community “I suppose what is unique about Putty Valley is that it transitioned over a period of 30 years from a dairy & beef farming community largely descended from the first settlers of 1830's, to a "tree-change" retreat for city dwellers. People come from diverse backgrounds from all manner of jobs; professional, trades, small businesses of all kinds. No matter where or what, we all share the love of the bush, the real Australian bush.”
