University of South Australia provided a student to work with the Port Wakefield Community Group

"The Port Wakefield Website project is a result of a combined effort undertaken between the Port Wakefield Community Management Committee (CMC) and the University of South Australia (Uni SA)." said Scott Kelly, Chairperson of the Port Wakefield CMC.

"Uni SA provided a student (undertaking media studies) to work with a community group in order to develop a web page or other type of electronic media project. "

"Port Wakefield was lucky enough to have the services of Adam Wolf who was undertaking a Bachelor of Media Studies with Uni SA School of Communication.  As part of his studies Adam had to develop two fully functional websites for real clients.  The Port Wakefield web site project was done in conjunction with the SA Press Club.

Adam received maximum marks for both his projects and is hoping that his degree will take him into the field of design, website creation or print material (magazines or advertisements). "

The Port Wakefield site is the first South Australian CGDN site to go live and can be found at www.portwakefield.sa.au

"The Port Wakefield CMC hopes that the website will provide an opportunity for visitors, tourists and potential residents to find out a little of the town prior to visiting.  They also hope that with further modifications to the site they will be able to provide links to sports clubs and other community groups not only in Port Wakefield but throughout the district.  It will provide an opportunity for the community (and on line visitors) to be able to access local information about businesses, education, council and other community services and hopefully in the future, local news and events. " adds Scott
