Narromine's new home on the net was launched at their Australia Day Activities at their local Showgrounds
Narromine's new community website was developed by the local community with the support of the Narromine Shire Council and was launched at the Showgrounds on Australia Day, 26th January, 2008.
The manager of the website group Christina Cherry said: “www.narromine.nsw.au will serve as a single gateway to information about the community including local businesses, sporting and other clubs, tourism, events calendars and up-to-the-minute news”.
“Our website aims to not only provide information to the community but also to visitors and potential residents alike, as well as providing a vibrant tool in bringing community groups and locals together” said Ms Cherry.
“It is designed to be updated by any member of the community, is interactive and in short a virtual community centre. We aim to give community groups their geographical homes on the internet and emails that will be theirs in perpetuity (eg. apex.narromine.nsw.au, apex@narromine.nsw.au) allowing for changes in committee members without losing vital contact details.
“It also encourages better collaboration between groups in arranging events by the active use of our community calendar. This information is also presented to the community in a newsletter format each week so that those without access online also benefit. “
