Mirboo North wins nation-wide competition featured on Channel 9 program Getaway.

Victoria’s Mirboo North has made headlines many times this year, having been affected by the devastating bushfires in Victoria earlier this year and being the home of Sam the Koala whose images of survival during the fires made front-page news around the world.
Recently thanks to the Mirboo North community website co-ordinator Jacinta Hicken the town won a nation-wide competition held by Channel 9 program Getaway called: Put Your Town on the Map. To win the competition, Jacinta filmed a 60 second video about Mirboo North and won both a segment on Getaway as well as a $5000 prize courtesy of Bendigo Bank which will be spent on making improvements to the local primary school.
The segment on Getaway features famous Vanilla slices from the Strzelecki Bakery, award winning Beer from the Grand Ridge Brewery (which is said to be hangover free), quilting in Nanna’s Cupboard and efforts of the Wednesday Warriors - a group of volunteers who are working to rebuild parts of the community damaged by the Victorian bushfires earlier this year.
