Medowie website provides voice for local issues

26/Jul/2010

Medowie in NSW is launching their CGDN website this week.

www.medowie.nsw.au

Medowie is a rapidly growing town on Port Stephens in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales. Roughly a two hour drive from Sydney Medowie has been a small rural town until a property and commercial boom that has seen Medowie grow to a population of 7000. The town is located near an RAAF airbase of which the town offers residency for many of the workers.

Website administrator Scott Broadhead said, “Medowie is a fast growing community with many local issues that affect the development of our town, for example flooding, aircraft noise and town centre development. A major driver for creating our community web-site is to keep residents informed on the status of local issues so that they can actively participate in decisions that directly affect them.”

The new site features local news, events and a community and business directory.

Mr. Broadhead adds, “Being a neighbour to the Williamtown RAAF base and central to Port Stephens, we have a constant stream of new residents. Our community and business directory will help families find the services they need and our web-site will provide a way of saying “welcome to our community, and here’s how we can help you settle in”. Other web features will be developed over time, to provide news, general information and events, to further connect and inform our community.”
