Lemon Tree Passage launch website on a 9 meter banner aboard a yacht

01/Dec/2009

The Lemon Tree Passage and Tanilba Bay communities launched their own website last week aboard a yacht in the annual Tiligerry Festival in Port Stephens NSW.

Both website addresses: www.lemontreepassage.nsw.au and www.tanilbabay.nsw.au point to the same website representing this part of the Tilligerry Peninsula.

At the launch, Port Stephens Mayor Bruce McKenzie officially introduced the website to the community.  The website was launched in a very unique way with one of the boats taking part in the Sail Past proudly displaying a 9mtr banner with the name of the website.  If anyone in the community didn’t know about the website, they certainly do now!

Website administrator, Sheree Davey, said, “Our website has been up for over a month now and its amazing how quickly the word is spreading about it.  Community groups and businesses alike are excited to have a platform such as this that we can manage and direct as a team, rather than rely on the shirt tails of Lemon Tree Passage Boatsomeone else’s site.

The Lemon Tree Passage and Tanilba Bay website aims to provide information for both the local community and visitors alike. As well as providing information on tides, the weather, local education, festivals, art & crafts, family services, tourist activities, real estate and so on, it is also a great forum to unite these two communities.”

Located on the shores of Port Stephens, Lemon Tree Passage and Tanilba Bay promote a strong boating and oyster industry.  And with Lemon Tree Passage being the unofficial tourist centre and Tanilba Bay holding the unofficial title of business centre, the community gets to experience the best of both worlds reflected in the community website.
