New Kalgan site hopes to connect a widespread community

20/Oct/2010

Kalgan in Western Australia is the latest community to launch their own CGDN website.

www.kalgan.wa.au

Bordering the southernmost Western Australian harbor city of Albany, the Kalgan river valley with its unique flora, fauna and history is renowned for the lifestyle it provides residents.  With many local species found nowhere else in the world, this area is regarded by conservationists as one of the worlds hottest bio-diversity hot-spots.

Properties larger than most suburban blocks, but smaller than farms in the rural hinterland beyond, make for a scattered population.

According to website administrator Meredythe Taylor, "A website was considered essential to facilitate social cohesion between such widely separated neighbours through a range of community groups and activities".

The new community website features a commnity groups directory, current events, state emergency services section, local news, accomodation, business directory and history of the community.
