Local Police use new Emerald Beach site to keep the community informed

07/Oct/2009

The Emerald Beach community in New South Wales has recently launched their own town website:

www.emeraldbeach.nsw.au

In addition to information about the beachside community located halfway between Sydney and Brisbane, the new Emerald Beach site has been utilised by the local police force to supply information to residents of the community about safety issues surrounding beach parties. The website includes an address to the community from the Detective Chief Inspector Cameron Lindsay and a brochure about this important community issue.

According to website administrator Tony Rothacker, “Our new website allows us to distribute Information to our residents quickly and affordably. We can address local news, events, emergency and police related matters in an efficient way.”

The Emerald Beach community website includes information about Car Pooling in the area, local weather, town history, local news, events and a community and business directory. “The local business and community directory is helpful for new as well as existing residents and provides a useful promotion tool for the local businesses. On the other hand revenues generated through advertisement on the website flows back to the community.”

The next plan for the Emerald Beach site will be to set up a voting facility and to register many residents for the upcoming e-newsletter. The online newsletter will address such issues as the development and subdivision of local lands and the upcoming upgrade of the Pacific Highway.
