Derrinallum, at foot of Mt Elephant - launches
The Derrinallum website group appreciate the ease of being able to set up their own community site
The small rural town of Derrinallum in western Victoria has launched its' new home on the net at www.derrinallum.vic.auLesley Brown, from the Derrinallum Progress Association said they "would like to say that we appreciate the ease of being able to set up our own web site and the support auDA have given us. Internet information is becoming increasingly popular and important and for organisations like ours that have a limited budget this format has been great."
Derrinallum is settled at the foot of Mount Elephant, a 240 m high dormant volcano featuring a conical breached scoria cone with a crater 90 m deep.
The website also tells us that: "There are several lakes in the area which have recently filled with water again after several dry years. These include Deep Lake, Lake Ettrick (or Tooliorook) all are stocked with fish and provide excellent opportunities for boating, water sports, and recreational fishing. "
Lesley adds "We are a progressive, caring and active community, who have initiated the Town and Country Markets October - March each year, produce a fortnightly News and Natter newsletter distributed to over 400 people and we have pride in the appearance and activities in our town."
