According to Sarah Marrett, webmaster, from the Barraba Chamber of Commerce,  "The town lies on the Manilla River, 550km north west of Sydney on the Fossickers Way. The people of Barraba take pride in their community, and welcome visitors to explore the hospitality of a small country town. It has a wide variety of community services and groups, businesses, agriculture, sports, and is very proud of it's history."

"The Playhouse Hotel is arguably our cultural centre, hosting a variety of live music and theatre, movies, conferences and celebrations. The Fuller Gallery, run by the Barraba Potters and Craft Guild, provides an opportunity for local artists to display their wares and share their skills and knowledge."
"Barraba is a rich beef area with many top class cattle studs in the district. Barraba is surrounded by National Parks which offer many activities for you to do while you are here, including bushwalking, bird watching, fishing, camping and fossicking" adds Sarah.
