Bushfire affected Labertouche uses CGDN to communicate

02/Feb/2010

The Labertouche community in Victoria have recently created their own Community Geographic Domain Name website. Labertouche is one of the Victorian communities who were hard-it by the devastating bushfires in February 2009.

The site has been developed as an initiative of the Labertouche Community Recovery Committee in order to facilitate communications to and among members of the Labertouche community and to assist in the ongoing recovery after the bushfires.

According to Baw Baw Shire Bushfire Recovery Manager Robyn Duffy, “As a fire affected community, I believe the need for a website is of significant importance to enable important information regarding bushfire recovery efforts to be communicated to the community in a medium that is up to the minute and user friendly.

The efforts of the local residents and volunteers to date have been impressive and it is wonderful to see their enthusiasm for establishing a website that ultimately benefits the community.”

The Labertouche website includes local news and events as well as information on the Labertouche Primary School, community hall and community groups within the area.
