Rockhampton QLD
With the support of the Rockhampton Regional Council, auCD held an information seminar at the Rockhampton Regional Library on the 26th October 2009. The seminar outlined how localities within the Rockhamtpon region can develop a community website using Community Geographic Domain Name (CGDNs).
Representatives from many groups attended the seminar including members from the Women’s Centre, the Queensland Country Women’s Association and representatives from the Filipino and African communities.
Some wonderful suggestions for how a community website can be utilised came out of this seminar including having information about local customs and culture for overseas migrants who settle in the area. Also it was suggested that by providing details of representatives from cultural groups in the area this would be helpful for international settlers in the community.
