Atherton (QLD)
auCD in conjunction with Community Services Tablelands (CST) and the Tablelands Regional Council were very pleased to invite members within the Tablelands Region to a free information seminar on developing a community website using Community Geographic Domain Names. The seminar took place at Family Support House in the main streets of Atherton on the 29th of October 2009.
Originally auCD had planned to just hold an event in Cairns but after a huge amount of interest from communities within the Tablelands region and with the help of CST and the Tablelands Regional Council auCD organised an additional seminar in Atherton.
Community members from all over the Tablelands Region came along including representatives from Atherton, Ravenshoe, Kirwan, Mareeba, Herberton, Malanda and Kuranda.
The Tablelands Regional Council are very proactive in creating an online home for each community and are pursuing how they can help their communities develop town websites. Should be a very interesting outcome to follow.
The event was an opportunity for community minded people to ask questions, learn more about the initiative and see the real life example of an established CGDN community website.
